★★★★★ Trusted by hundreds of singers all over the world

Your voice was never the problem. Everything layered on top of it was. The singer underneath has been there all along.

The VoxTape Method

Most voice training piles on more.
We take the layers off.

Typical lessons add more on top of the voice you already have; more support, more technique, more effort. The VoxTape Method does the opposite. We strip away the layers burying your voice so your natural voice has room to come out.

The goal isn't a bigger voice, it's a freer one.(Which usually turns out to be bigger anyway.)

The VoxTape Method, In Three Steps

01

Identify Your Strengths

Find your sweet spot and the songs your voice was built for, so you get that "wow" every time you sing.

02

Expand Your Voice

Grow your vocal skill-set so you feel in control of your voice instead of it controlling you.

03

Develop Your Artistry

Define your sound to stand out and connect with your audience on a deeper level.

Meet your coach

Hi 👋 I'm Emily, and I'll be your coach.

Emily Tallman, Head Vocal Coach at VoxTape Studios

I've been teaching singers for a long time, even before I realized it was my passion. All the way back to when I was a senior in high school and we were doing the musical Annie. One rehearsal, my director pulled me aside and asked if I'd work with "Annie" on the high notes in the song "Tomorrow." I said sure, thinking, "I can do this, so maybe I can help her sing it too 🤷‍♀️."

We brightened her tone, adjusted her airflow, and found a way to the note that worked for her. She ended up crushing it, hitting those high notes in every performance. All I wanted was for my last high school musical to be great. Instead, I'd collected the unexpected bonus of loving to teach singers how to use their voices.

Eight years and a master's degree in vocal pedagogy from Shenandoah Conservatory later, I've coached singers all over the world and I still get so excited every time one of my singers experiences their first vocal breakthrough.

In your first lesson with me, we will be able to pinpoint what's been holding you back to launch you toward your own lightbulb moments.

Non-traditional voice training for the contemporary singer

Singing is hard, right?
That's a sneaky lie the industry's been telling for decades.

Big, powerful sounds don't have to equal more effort. In fact, singing in general doesn't have to feel hard at all. That's how it feels following exercises and techniques that aren't right for your voice. Every artist approaches singing differently, having different wins and challenges in their vocal journey. What's most important is finding what is right for you.

So if you've been overwhelmed by all the information online, if you feel stuck in your progress right now, or if you're new to vocal training and don't know where to start, I'm really glad you're here.

At VoxTape Studios we give you the full picture of the voice, the technical and the artistic sides of singing, so you don't just become a more well-rounded singer, but a more confident performer and artist.

Whether you want to work on…

  • Making singing feel good
  • Improving your tone

  • Singing high notes with power
  • Feeling more confident

We've got you covered, and we can't wait to help you explore your voice's full potential.

What Singers Ask Before Booking

Will this actually work for me?

Every singer is different, which is why we start with an intro lesson instead of a generic lesson plan. By the end of your 45 minutes, you'll have an honest answer about whether the VoxTape Method is right for your voice, and exactly which path will help most.

What if I'm too nervous to sing for a stranger?

The lesson starts with a quick chat between us about what you've been working on, so by the time you sing I already know what to listen for. I'm not listening for perfection, I'm listening for what your voice is actually doing, and how to help you reach your goals. This is a safe space to be creative!

Does this really work over Zoom?

Yes! Every VoxTape lesson happens online, and we have helped hundreds of singers transform their voices from screen to screen all over the world.

How long is the lesson?

The lesson is 45 minutes long.

Why isn't the intro lesson free?

We share a lot of free educational content on YouTube and Instagram! Our 1-on-1 coaching is paid because that time is focused entirely on your voice and your goals, and it's how we're able to bring you professional coaches who help you reach your vocal and artistic goals.

What equipment do I need?

It's recommended to have the Zoom app on your computer so we can adjust your audio and hear you clearly, and another device is handy for pulling up any karaoke tracks we might use. No external microphones or cameras needed.

Do I need any experience?

No, you don't need any previous singing lessons or performance experience to work with us. Wherever you're starting from is the right place to start.

Can I do lessons in person?

No, all of our lessons are held online over Zoom.

It's time to get to work
